What is Student Volunteer Connection (SVC)?
SVC is a student organization that engages TAMU-CC students to be actively involved and committed to service by providing accessible service-learning opportunities to connect our campus to the community.
What is The BIG Event?
The BIG Event is a community service project hosted by SVC to help Corpus Christi residents with every day projects around the home and garden. Through service-oriented activities, The BIG Event promotes campus and community unity as students, faculty, staff, and alumni come together for one BIG day to express their gratitude of the support from the surrounding community.
What kind of projects do we do?
Paint, scrape paint, mulch, plant flowers, rake leaves, trim trees/hedges, wash windows, etc. We also work with local nonprofit organizations on various volunteer projects. It is preferred if materials are provided.
Who can request a job?
All residents and nonprofit groups of Corpus Christi are encouraged to request a job to be performed by student volunteers. However, due to limited resources, The BIG Event will only be able to accept a limited number of jobs.
Please keep in mind when filling out Job Request Form:
Due to the volume of Job Request Forms we receive, not all applicants will be contacted.
Applicants requesting paint scraping must test negative for lead paint.
Applicants requesting painting must have ready-to-paint surfaces and provide paint.
